Appearance

Lotti stands at 5'1, with shoulder-length dyed red hair and blue eyes, typically pulled back into a ponytail. She typically wears large prescription glasses, nearly a requirement for her to see details far away. She has a thin yet athletic physique, conditioned by many discussions with her elder brother when she was a child. She tends towards other very boyish clothes when at work on any of her passion projects, and trendy fashionable clothing when socializing.

Background

Lotti was born in Aarhus, Denmark. Born to a Danish father and a Canadian mother who had come to the city for university and never found a reason to leave. Her childhood was spent studying, for the most part, but when she was able to she did her best to shadow her brother into forested areas during the evenings that he left home to wander, and on the weekends she did her best to try to interject herself into his friend group. He didn't so much seem to mind added company on the nature-walks, but whenever she tried to join with his friend group, that was a bridge too far, and his body language let her know this all too well. A sentiment she mostly respected, except when she was in dire need of validation from her beloved brother, whom she idolized as a capable young adult with so much practical knowledge and listening to him as she would a teacher. She was one of those peculiar kids that put everything she had into her studies, even at a young age, but also was a social butterfly and never found herself awkward in any situation. She had virtually no friends, but that never stopped her from walking right up to strangers and striking up a conversation. And she was always eager to please. At ten years old, her parents divorced and her mother moved with the pair back to her native land of Canada. The hikes with her brother became more and more intense, with him trying to teach her basic wilderness survival & self-defense, such as what to do in the event of a bear attack, making campfires safely and fishing. She tried her best to pick up what she could, but was never terribly good at it. During the next four years, she began to see less and less of her brother. By fourteen, she felt like she lost him entirely to his new life. Away from her and their family, always leaving for long periods of time on jobs. She didn't have much time to follow him around at this time anyways, though she missed the days he would allow her to follow him into the forests near their old home and simply wander. She dove head-first into her studies. She wanted to become an electrical engineer, and poured her heart into it. She loved taking things apart and learning how they worked, much like she did mentally with other people. It wasn't so much manipulation as it was simply learning how to speak with them most effectively! Time passed, she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto at the age of 22. It was 1992 just after Spring -- right after she graduated -- when her mother fell ill. Lotti put her entire life and career on pause to focus on helping and taking care of her mother. She took the first job she could get, and did her best to handle anything her mother needed or took issue with. In early March of 1993, her mother had been referred to a specialist clinic in New York City. While her mother pleaded with her son to come visit, Lotti knew he would keep his distance. He always did when social situations became unstable, and she also felt it was at least partly her fault. She drove him away, being that silly clingy little sister that constantly stressed him out. Weighed him down. March 1993, the month the world feel into ruin. Lotti's world came crashing down when, amidst constant reports of the dead raising and eating the living and horrific portals to god-knows-where randomly opening to deliver them, she and her mother were attacked by some of these creatures. Walking corpses. When a portal opened next to Lotti, her mother dove forward to push her out of the way, causing Lotti to be pushed clear of the dangerous anomaly, but her mother became swallowed by the tear, vanishing from her daughter's sight. After trying everything she could think of to help her mother, in a blind whirlwind of anguish and despair, she got into their car and drove as fast and as far as she could before the car broke down. Roughly five days later, she found herself at the edge of the eastern front of Knox County, dazed and confused as to where she was, with very little memory of how she arrived.
