Silas Rourke

Personality
Silas Rourke is timid in expression. He holds no confidence within himself, but he still keeps himself professional, or at least cares for appearances, more than most.
He's soft-spoken from the moment you meet him, and for a heated conversation, he'll immediately back down from a conversation if the opposing side speaks in any higher tone. He'll still intently listen. And sometimes he carries a smile plastered onto his face to show comfort for when any angst is shown in another.
He responds in a worried state every time he feels the chill of an active fight. Trying to find a middle ground for both sides every time.
Appearance
His most notable appearance is his septum nose piercing, sometimes randomly found with flat hoop earrings. He can be seen with grey/purple-ish underlight hair, even having a coat of brown hair on top of it. His eyes are a soft blue with hints of grey. His cheekbones have a slight sharpness to them, along with a faint German accent that’s been basically non-existent.
Background
Silas was born in Febuary 18th, 1966 in the grand city of Savannah in Georgia. His mother was born in Stuttgart, Germany. She wanted to travel the world and find her own passions, not one paved by her family. So she grabbed the first flight to Canada. Eventually taking her leave and did several different jobs in the U.S. as she traveled along the east coast. She fell in love with a man who loved the thin blue paper of a schematic more than a beer. In 1966, Silas was born. He was an easy wild child with no peep from him in any loud environment. He often stayed vigilant in any conversations he never understood. He’d listen intently with no clear goal; he seemed just to enjoy the voice of people talking, nothing more, nothing less. That led him until high school, he’d grow a very distinct interest in a radio system in one of his classes- One day it broke, and he and another friend. They fixed it over the past few months with whatever he could find in his mechanical engineering class in high school. This grew his passion to fix broken things.
His father left for a business trip while Silas was only 15.. almost 16. He said it’d only be a few years. He’d be back before his 18th birthday; 2 years later, his mother grew restless, a pure unfortunate circumstance regarding the mail and poor communication over the phone; she assumed her husband abandoned her after these years, every passing moment feeling more unreal than the next. With the absence of the father, his mother began to teach her native tongue. Sometimes, it was a comforting time between the two without worrying about the worst. Years begin to pass.. Silas is now 20 years old.. One random morning, walking home at night. He sees another vehicle in their driveway. He runs into the garage, maybe having an inkling of hope behind his ears as he slams the door closed behind him and runs upstairs to see a grieving mother and an enraged father. The face of his father was almost becoming a blur- Just for it to be reminded in an angered expression, and then the yelling began. Silas’s mother had slowly begun to deteriorate after the years that had passed, her own eyes leaving her as she witnessed her husband returning, a sight that she didn't believe to be real. She lost herself and began to say unbelievable things. He and his father talked for a long time that night as the exaustion has reached the limit for his mother.. His father gave him the keys to his SUV and asked him to go find a college. Find a goal and prove himself, as he's been unable to leave because of money.
Silas, with a envolope of cash and a vehicle to his name, begins to drive north as he eventually lands in the parking lot of Appalachian State University. Silas knew he needed to prove himself with the chance his father gave him. But it felt rushed, he missed his father.. with constant thoughts of returning to his parents. He sterned himself and began taking classes at the college he's been eyeing since high school for a dual degree that'd help him with his interests in electrical wiring and the innards of a vehicle. Funnily enough, he lived in his vehicle to save money. He found good friends like Jade, with whom he enjoyed their conversations. And several other friends that he met along the several classes he took.
When he had the time off on breaks and small amounts of time between weekends. He'd get on small trips and join random individuals on whatever party or booze induced gathering he could attend. Sometimes even gets rides back to the college and to his trusty SUV by a stranger. A foolish excuse to get a glass bottle in his hand or maybe something worse- But the moment he was back in class. He'd focus. never letting go of the constant worry of failing the goal and objective that was given.
In October 1992, Silas finally got his degree in hand. Not a moment passes as he gets in his SUV and goes to the nearest job center. Building the best portfolio he could in a day, then applying for the best job he could see.. He found what he saw as the best-paying job.. from what he could tell.. Till he read the fine print.. He applied for a job at ECHO.
He finally drives over to the fantastic Los Angeles.. "Enjoying" his job, seeing old faces, and meeting new friends.
Till March 8th.. Silas was told to go to a new location for the office. Drained from realizing the reality of his job. He was delighted to finally take a day drive over to Knox County.
March 9th was.. The day it happened. The spine chill that was the rifts, on the road, Silas drove and drove. Maybe he was losing his mind from the lack of sleep from the endless drive. He thought he enjoyed the solitude of a long drive, but he was wrong.. The rifts only appeared whenever he stopped; his eyes kept peering at the gas meter. Giving sheer anxiety till he finally made his way to the edge of the county. It's now 8am.. He sees the sun rise as he tries wiping the bags out of his eyes, and he sets course towards the nearest town.
