Background

Born to an eastern german mother and a hungarian horse breeder father in Keszthely. The year was 1970 and the country was still under the rule of the MSZMP. Her parents always hoped for their daughter to once live in a truly democratic nation, but that reality was just never close enough. She was raised as every other children in the country. Girls only school for 12 years, forced to learn russian as the second language and the school made her work as a mail-woman to have extra credit and also taking part of the "Úttörő" movement where the young could learn useful skills similar to the boy-scouts. She struggled with russian, but the basics are there. In the household they used german a lot thanks to the paranoia that was present this time. Neighbours report eachother for everything which could cause family to get inprisoned for no reason at all. There was even a hired private teacher getting her and Virág's father ready for their plans when the future of the country looked more and more free and democratic elections begun. She had an easy way of mastering it thanks to the many years of using it between her and her mother and all the family gatherings they hosted every summer twice. Once at home and once all the way in Guben. She grew more and more confident using it to speak with her german relatives. Always hated to just sit silently and listen to them, even though she understood most of what was said at this point. In 1989 Hungary finally opened it's borders with Austria, her family wasted no time and set out to the west. Sold everything they owned and moved to Graz for a few years. Here the use of hungarian was limited to speaking to her father, but not forgotten. Even made a few local friends who found her accent absolutely amusing. Years past and the family treasury looked enough looked enough for the next step in her parents dreams. Nobody actually had a solid plan how exactly they are going to get by in the free US, nor spoke english but they still did it. With the help of some friends and family they moved continent. A peaceful and rular state they thought was Kentucky. Picking Louisville as their "base of operation" (home) for the job possibilities. They only arrived a few weeks before the rifts begun to open. Starting over was difficult but she was excited about it. Already hired a private english teach to help her AND the family learn the local language, though the first lesson never happened. Virág's mother found a job as a cleaner in one of the central office blocks. Her father didnt have as much luck. Virág and her father were out of town trying to look for work for him, she just tagged along so he wasnt alone. Spent a whole day in Westpoint trying to find any work. He was offered to work on a farm but he never wanted to fall back in the same life he had back in Europe. While trying to head more south in the county aimning towards St. Bernard, they got stuck in traffic north from Muldraugh where soon panic broke out as unexplainable things begun to open out of nothing. Being stuck in traffic the only option they had was leaving the car behind as everyone else did and run for the woods. Tried their best to stick together, but his father was in full on panic mode. He just kept running while Virág grew exhaused and fall over trying to catch her breath. She lost him and she was left behind. She was left wandering all alone. Only tool she has for survival was the "Úttörő" training she had back home.
