Background

Saad Ahmed was born in Iowa to two immigrant parents. His childhood was that of the average suburban kid. Go to school, come home, do homework, and hang out with friends. This continued to middle school where he started playing soccer and doing taekwondo. Upon entering high school, he began to take his studies more seriously, while also participating in sports. Growing up he used to run a lot and played soccer and did martial arts due to his natural interest with combat sports in middle school. In high school he continued his practice in martial arts branching out to MMA and wrestling, and began learning to shoot guns for self defense and a personal interest in guns, as well as shooting bows. He also did track and field since he enjoyed running. For his career, he set his sights on entering the medical field. Upon becoming 18 he graduated high school and went to community college for gen eds while continuing practicing shooting, martial arts and started learning about botany, and plants. Then he transferred to a four year university at 20, and completed the remaining two years, emerging with a bachelors in biology at 22. When he turned twenty three, he had gotten accepted into medical school and finished medical school in the next four years at 27. Then he began working on his five year residency. Over time he had seen the reports about aliens abducting people to which he thought it was probable. He had a open mind and did believe in aliens. In the beginning of 1993 as these reports intensified he was sure of aliens at this point, continued to live his life normally other wise. Things went smoothly until March 9th, 1993. Saad was finishing working on the fourth year of his five year residency when on that day all hell broke loose. Saad was at the hospital when rifts opened at the top floor of the hospital and undead poured through who quickly ravaged the hospital down from the top floor to the lower levels. He was participating in a surgical procedure, when the screams were heard outside. The entire room froze and looked on in awe and horror as a undead broke into the room. Saad couldn't believe his eyes but as the zombie encroached towards the group they all realized this was real. Immediately Saad grabbed one of the scalpels and stabbed it in the torso but it kept coming at him and tried to attack. Due to his years of martial arts experience he saw the attack and dodged. Unfortunately more zombies began to approach the room and the room erupted into chaos. Saad had a choice to make. Flee, or perish. He realized he had to make the choice to save himself, and so armed with a scalpel he fought his way out of the room, through the halls and towards the exit where police were evacuating people. Over the next few hours the situation rapidly deteriorated as more people congregated around the hospital, more rifts opened. One opened right in front of Saad to which he could only react with curiousity, horror, awe, and confusion. What was this? Where did it come from? Why are undead coming out of this? His train of thought was broken as thousands of undead poured out of the rift which were answered by a hail of bullets by cops that yelled at him to get out of the way. Saad quickly ran away from the area, to his car and drove home. Immediately he and his family grabbed their belongings and fled East while taking shelter in pockets of resistance. Unfortunately rifts kept appearing where people congregated. So the family never stayed in one place too long. Eventually the family found themselves making to and arriving in Knox Kentucky, taking shelter in the MegaCavern MegaMall where rumors had stated that the rifts didn't open here.
