Personality
Eunji's personality was heavily influenced by the knight's code of chivalry. Eunji is loyal to those he considers friends, family, and especially benevolent leaders. Honor is a top priority and will mostly be truthful, just, and impartial, even to people he doesn't like. His business partners have known him for his generosity in business deals and that he never sought to be a ruthless businessman. Though, if anyone confronted him or looked to do harm, he would often physically involve himself in order to end any unwanted violence.
He struggles with courage and might often find a last minute excuse to bail on someone or something as he is afraid of coming out at the bottom or simply interacting with them. He tries to be humble but at times is caught up in the idea of his own superiority, though he won't say it flat out.
Eunji is a loner and will sometimes go out of his way to avoid contact with another person, even if they need help. Because this loner and chivalric identity are often mixed together, it can be quite confusing to someone who doesn't know Eunji well. One minute he might be speaking in a confident manner and standing up straight and then the next minute barely utter a word choosing to be more reserved in his tone and posture.
Eunji is also a bit of a jokester by taking sarcasm and phrases literally and by telling false stories that seemed too crazy to be true.
Appearance
Eunji is an Asian male that is 5 feet and 9 inches tall. He has long flowing, often messy black hair with facial hair. He wears glasses and often wears a suit. When he doesn't wear the suit, he will wear what he thinks would be fashionable even if impractical. He has a fairly normal athletic build. He is often mistaken for being 10 years older than he really is.
Notable Skills
Eunji is fluent in both English and Korean. He has experience with handling a sword. He is an Abstract thinker and can recognize the broader significance of information. He is good at coming up with stories on the spot and is good at playing a character. The swordsmanship class also taught him a little bit about metalworking and woodworking. He also has experience with car mechanics as he had to work on and modify his car quite often back in South Korea.
Background
January 1st, 1972, born and raised in South Korea, Eunji grew up during a tumultuous period due to major political instability. Many of the kids his age resorted to rebellious acts of criminal activity. However, Eunji never cared for much of anything except for school and being left alone. That is until one day, he visited the city's public library. Tucked away in a recessed corner was an older book written in English. Eunji, knowing some English from classes in school could only understand small portions of the book, but what he could understand introduced him to a world of knights, a legendary man known as King Arthur and something called a "quest" for something called "the Holy Grail." Of course, Eunji had no idea what this last part was about, but something so foreign and heroic captured his imagination.
In high school, Eunji would be a loner preferring to keep to himself and focus on his studies. Initially, he wasn't interested in learning English, but after his discovery, he was determined to finish that book. When he wasn't studying and doing schoolwork, he would go in the woods near his house and would pretend to go on grand adventures and use sticks as swords pretending to be a knight.
As Eunji learned more English, he would be able to read larger portions of the book able to understand much more of what was written. That is when he learned about the knight's code of chivalry, a moral and ethical code that was supposed to guide the behavior of knights. This code would play a part in shaping who he is and will be.
By the mid to late 1980s, the political situation began to ease as the government shifted from an authoritarian rule to a more pro-democratic one. From these significant political changes, saw South Korean companies race to become internationally competitive and among these companies was one owned by Eunji's Father. As Eunji was getting set to go to university, his father urged him to study in a field of business so that he can work within the company. At first Eunji was reluctant, but he greatly respected his parents and agreed.
Eunji would attend Korea University in 1990 and study Economics and Finance. It would be here at the university where Eunji would master his grasp on the English language and hone his skills as a business man. In the last 2 years of Eunji's enrollment he would discover a small student organization focused on traditional and western swordsmanship. By this point, he had finished that book and was enthralled by the thought of this Holy Grail, so he immediately joined this group.
Unlike the business skills in which he learned with ease, fighting with a real sword would prove to be much harder than he had anticipated. At the end of his college career, graduating in 1994, he would go on to score at the top of his class but rank one of the lowest in his swordsmanship group. Eunji was saddened by this and so the childhood dream of becoming a knight left and was instead replaced by his corporate future.
He would join his father in his now international business and would quickly prove himself as a competent businessman and analyst. Towards the end of 1999, a business opportunity in the state of New Jersey would present itself to the company and Eunji with his ability to speak English was chosen to represent the company and scout out the potential of this opportunity. At the turn of the new year, Eunji would be sent to New Jersey.
As he arrived in New Jersey, everything seemed to be going well, he noted that some people seemed on edge and some more strange, but he chalked it up to a mere difference in culture. However as the weeks went on, it is evident to Eunji that something sinister was happening. On February 15th, Eunji saw the writing on the wall, after seeing the rise in reports of strange and violent behavior. His American counterpart for the company, whom he trusted greatly, had told Eunji to meet at a shoreside property where he had a boat where they could sail to somewhere that might be safer. However, when Eunji arrived at the property, his coworker was not there and the house was unlocked with the keys to the boat and a map sitting on a table. Eunji waited until March hoping that his coworker would arrive, but because of the severely deteriorating situation outside, he had no choice but to leave alone. The boat had nearly no fuel left and on the map, an island was circled called Braddock Island just off to the east. And so that is where he would sail to with the last of the fuel.
Eunji wasn't scared or sad, he was calm. He sailed with a smile, he thought that this could be the beginning of something he had always wanted.
