Personality

Jun is a soft-spoken woman, both in nature and due to an injury in the Wastes that left her unable to speak louder than a hoarse rasp. She tries to be forthcoming and kind to everyone she meets, although the Wastes have certainly taken their own toll on her in it's own... unfortunate way. She doesn't trust easily, but that doesn't stop her from being civil and decent. However, when certain situations arise and require her to take more... drastic measures, Jun-Lei uses her knowledge in Hapkido; something learned from generations passed through on her father's side, to incapacitate instead of fatally or mortally wound. In her ten years in the Wastes, Jun-Lei has never once taken a non-Blossom's life. She has also never shot or used a gun before

Appearance

Jun-Lei is a short woman. Five-foot even and a force to be reckoned with in her own right. She's a little on the chubbier side, mostly due to genetics rather than diet, and she currently sports a short black bob that has been bluntly cut around her ears. She has a sweet, welcoming round face- only cut with her rather stark black eyes. She does not wear makeup, however she has a few notable items almost always on her person; a collection of rings around her neck on a silver chain, and a collection of rings on her fingers only held on via the material of her thick gloves. Jun-Lei also loyally carries around her old FIRE-EMT badge and ID, and has a patch from LV's firehouse still on her vest/armband.

Background

Jun-Lei was never a stranger to responsibility. As the eldest of three, she grew up fast, and was expected as the eldest daughter in a predominantly Korean-Chinese household to be well educated. Her father made sure she was in the best school, taking the best of the best martial arts classes, and that her grades were perfect. She was the perfect role model for her sisters, right down to the way she wore her hair. On the way to one of her first Taekwondo matches, tragedy struck, and her family suffered in a horrific car crash. When her father died and her mother and youngest sister were left disabled after the terrible accident, Jun had to step up from a young age. While other teenagers worried about crushes and weekend plans, Jun was figuring out how to stretch groceries for another week, helping with homework, and making sure her siblings had something close to a childhood. She even taught herself sign language through pictures in books just so she could have a better way to communicate with her youngest sister, not to mention taking on the responsibility of teaching them both Korean. School was her only shot at giving them a better life, so she pushed herself to the brink, studying between shifts at whatever late-night delivery job or fast food place would have her, running on nothing but coffee and microwaved ramen. Despite her efforts of keeping her sisters safe and her mother taken care of, Jun never stopped believing in herself or following her own dreams. She wanted to be a nurse, but the schooling would take too much time- time she didn't exactly have with her double shifts at Spiffos, and her graveyard shifts at Gas 2 Go. So, she shifted her focus on something she could do much more hands-on. At 20, after two years of trying to pass through the Academy and earn her EMT license, she finally got sent to a firehouse in Louisville; not a far drive from West Point and close enough to be reachable by phone from her sisters. It was perfect... except for the Captain, and... well, the others that weren't all too happy to have a woman, especially one so young, in their field. She wasn't taken seriously, rarely put on scenes, and was seen as the house "den mother" rather than someone worthy of wearing the gear and working the trucks. Until Shane- Cain, as the boys called him. He took her in, took her under his wing and taught her just about everything she knew off the books. He was her mentor, and the two quickly developed a silent relationship of respect and deep, mutual understanding. As she sought peace in a new religion, Cain helped her settle into it with open arms, whether he realized it or not. The two were... unofficial best friends, and two years later... when the first signs of the "blossom" infection started to cause the most alarm... and when all hell broke loose for her and her family. Her mother had gotten so sick from the pollen, and her sisters were susceptible by proxy. When she came home one evening to find her mother broken out of her room, standing over the bodies of her sisters as daisies sprouted from their mouths... Cain had to drag her out kicking and screaming- narrowly escaping death herself. At first, they tried to hold their ground, but eventually they left for Oregon. It was then, on the road, where they built up a name for themselves; Mayday Medical. For nearly five years post-outbreak the name lasted as a legacy; and Jun was right there with Cain through it all, offering her skills with medicine and home economics where it was needed. Over the course of the five years they travelled together, Cain taught Jun-Lei Latin, both as a way to communicate between themselves privately and also as a way to deeper connect with her Catholic beliefs and prayers. And then... after an attack, after narrowly escaping with her life and Cain presumably dead... Jun fled. For the first few months alone she was desolate; absolutely beside herself with grief. It wasn't until she met someone; a new friend; that helped pick herself up from the ground and start again. She built up a Caravan from nothing; using a trade and barter system to get through The Northern Wastes that Jun dubbed "The Crossing", using the old railroad systems to get around. The Crossing took in countless refugees, and Jun made sure each and every one of her people were fed and properly accounted for as much as one could in the wastes. They travelled from the West Coast as Jun made her way back to Louisville- or at least, what remained there until she stumbled upon the KQZ.. It was there, for the past year, that she had been settled down. Leaving the road life behind her she set up shop and became a Worker; owning her own shop with a dear friend. The Healing Point; specializing in handling and securing medication, herbs and the like for the clinics in the surrounding areas.
