A friendly, but pragmatic and slightly distant person is what most people would say if asked who Lexi was, and for the most part this would be accurate. She only lets a select few people in to see her ‘true’ self, the soft, vulnerable and nurturing nature that drives her every decision and action. With a deep seated desire to assist those in need, especially those she sees as ‘innocent’, working for the greater good of her home, by any means necessary and protecting them from injustice and suffering. Unfortunately, due to her past experiences and upbringing, buried beneath the friendly demeanour, her mental state can best be described as temperamental, with a constant internal battle and exhibiting symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder, never being officially diagnosed and keeping her struggles internalised, her behaviour becoming more erratic when her few vices are in short supply. However, she is careful to keep her thoughts and coping to herself and out of public view. While her friendly outward approach to policing is a positive to those who follow the law or commit minor infractions, with her being more lenient should someone admit fault and cooperate. Should someone do the opposite, or be a more serious "evil", such as a major criminal, harm animals or be a genuine threat to herself or others safety, Lexi will switch and become cold and harsh until she perceives ‘justice’ has been served, not shying away from violence should the perpetrator attempt to strike first.
Lexi stands at 5’5 tall, with a larger bust on a heavier set body build, “chubby” is what most would call her, with a surprising amount of strength for her build and height, attributed to her lifestyle. She typically sports light blue hair, however, more often than not, as she has gotten older, her natural dirty blond hair will be on display. Her darker eyebrows are a little bushy, unkempt and typically seen in a small furrow, along with slightly fuller lips and a defined cupid's bow. She has a gentle sprinkling of freckles under her eyes and across her slightly crooked nose. Her face and body has a number of scars and old wounds, each with their own tale. Additionally, her body is covered in a handful of tattoos of varying design, some with meaning, some just for the style. She will typically be seen standing in a confident, commanding and slightly cold stance, almost coming off as cocky and rude with her mannerisms.
Lexi has varying levels of ability within a handful of skills attributed to her hobbies, interests and subsequent career as law enforcement. Such as shooting, hunting, farming and handiwork.
Lexi, born in a smaller town on the North end of Braddock Island, was the only daughter to Mitch and Olivia, who had relocated to the island after a dispute with Mitch’s previous sergeant at the NYPD, becoming a deputy on the Island to get away from it all. Her mum got a job as a bartender and they lived what seemed to be a simple life to an outsider. Mitch was alright when he was sober, but the moment he began drinking he would switch on a dime, becoming aggressive, slamming doors and screaming in their faces. Lexi never understood why her mum never left him, but her earliest memories are of her dad punching a hole in the door after coming back in the early hours of the morning and being confronted by her mum. While he could claim he never touched Lexi, seeing all of this unfold as a young child shaped her personality in ways not even he could appreciate in the moment. In school Lexi was known as the quiet kid, kept to herself mostly and got okay grades, nothing outstanding but enough to get by. Once she moved to Highschool, her quiet demeanour made her a target for bullies, who would prod and push her around but she never fought back, she hated herself and felt as if she deserved it. It wasn’t until she noticed a girl in the year below her being shoved into the lockers that something deep inside her burned bright, she had to help. So, she did, stepping in and getting physical with the bullies, this resulted in her getting a broken nose, but at least the girl was okay. From that moment on, Lexi knew she wanted to do something to help others, protect others. Maybe, she could save her mum from the disgraced officer who now spent his days drinking. Unfortunately, this meant she had to leave for NY to attend college. During these years, Lexi began drinking at parties and the family curse quickly embraced her, booze became a weekly thing, smoking daily and her grades began to slip. Her desire to help others never wavered and would be the thing that kept her from throwing it all away, learning to balance the drinking and the education through a little messy trial and error, she balanced it on a knife's edge, one bad day away from collapse. Upon completing college, the drinking slowed a little, but never stopped. She stayed in NY for a while, joining the police academy and working her hardest to pass, to prove to herself that not all cops were like her dad, to fix the family legacy she had in her mind and to finally get a stable income to bring her mum to NY. During all of this, Lexi had turbulent personal relationships, where one misstep would result in her blowing up on them and torching the bridge without mercy. At least in her job she knew who was good or bad. After she completed her probation period and was barely a year in, she got a call that broke her. Her dad had finally gone too far, her mum never woke up. Being the coward he was, he took his truck and drove it off the pier on the south end of the Island to avoid any form of punishment, his body was recovered a few days later. Lexi was put on grievance leave and did the only thing she knew to do. She drank. She had failed the one person who had been on her side since day one, the one person who had faith in her, the person she had sworn to save. Her life goal was no longer achievable, she once again, deeply hated herself. She never returned to the NYPD. She transferred to the island, working out of the small township on the north of the island, where her family used to live. She still drank regularly but as time passed, her resentment for herself became a driving factor for her work, throwing everything she had into her role as a deputy. When she wasn’t on duty, she would do basic work around the local farms and ranches, using the DIY skills her dad had taught her during her visits home or would be found at the local bar, drinking her emotions away. Due to her experiences in NY, she avoided getting close to most people, it was easier that way. This was her life for the next few years, a simple, lonely life, slowly progressing up the ranks of the small department, until at the age of 40, she became the Chief Deputy of the small township. As tensions grew with the rise in aggressive cases the department was dealing with, her life was swept up with it. The already underfunded station was ran thin, the disappearance of their sheriff adding to the mix, Lexi took on the role, pulling double shifts often to help ease the load. They never got a grip on the disorder, with many officers joining the chaos on the wrong side. Despite their best efforts, law and order had begun to fall. In the following days, the remaining officers, led by Lexi, were forced to give up their precinct and pushed into the rural land around the town, using one of the officers’ farms as a makeshift station. They made plans to quell the disorder that was plaguing their town. Lexi had sworn to protect and serve, and she was going to do just that, come hell or high water.
