Background

Joshua was born into a middle-class family in Rosewood, Kentucky. His dad was a Firefighter and his mother was a clerk at the courthouse. His early life was nothing special, as he had a very normal middle-class upbringing. Once he got to highschool however, his grades started to slip, and he could barely maintain a C+ average. He did play football for his local highschool however, and found some success in that, but not enough to go pro or play for college. He did somehow manage to get into the Local college up in Louisville though, but due to his parents financial status, he was unable to afford attendance normally. Luckily for Joshua, the Kentucky National Guard had a program where you could join part time, and they would help pay for college. With this program, along with a small amount of student loans Joshua was able to attend the University of Louisville as a communications major. He didn't really know what he wanted to do for a living but he figured communications was a good jumping off point for something else. His first year at university was your average freshman experience. Sadly after his first year at university, his mother got diagnosed with cancer, and he had to drop out to help support his family. Joshua ended up going full time with the guard, and he was stationed at the base near Rosewood. It was an uneventful post as nothing really happened for a while, which was great for Joshua as it allowed him to help care for his sick mother. He spent most of his time either at a gate or helping with the rare tornado cleanup. Things were business as usual for a while until March of 1993 when the rifts showed up. Joshua was quickly transferred to Louisville to help with the establishment of a safe zone at the Louisville MegaCavern MegaMall. He didn't even get time to say goodbye to his parents before he was transferred so he has no clue if either of his parents are still alive.
