Hub towns are typically business locations not residential, as such some rules are in place to help to help keep the areas as lag free and accessible as possible.
Do not claim a building without a ticket
No vehicles can be left within the walls, if you own a mechanics garage within the walls you may drive the vehicle in to repair it, but it must be removed immediately after work is complete
You may drive in only to drop things off but must remove your vehicle immediately afterwards.
Business owners are permitted to have a have a small living space, please open a ticket to discuss the details with staff
You may add onto the structures but they cannot be made more than 2 stories tall in total, and interior decoration with placed items must be kept minimal.
There will be no general housing areas allowed to be built within the walls
No faction or player can "own" the hub towns
Factions may not build bases or outposts inside or around the hub town, they're welcome to open and run businesses but they can't live there and the business must be active.
Requests to claim a business need to be made via ticket stating your character's name, and your planned business then leave a note outside the building you wish to claim with your characters name, your discord, and your planned business until it is approved/denied
Your Wasteland character can be hired by a workplace, which allows you to use up work points in return for small rewards. Every character begins with 100% of their work points and regains 5% each IRL hour.
Different workplaces use up your points at different rates. For instance, a mechanics shop will use up your points twice as quickly as a bar and for fewer rewards, though the rewards are likely to be more valuable.
Each workplace has a different function too, for instance if you enter a clinic when an employee is present, your healing rate for wounds, fractures, and bites will increase. A clinic employee meanwhile, will gain first aid XP and medical items such as bandages and antibiotics as they do their job.
If you have an area you've built that you feel deserves to be a workplace, you can put in a ticket to request a moderator adds the workplace zone for you. You will need to have put in effort to build, decorate and clean it up, as well as RPing around it. For instance, hiring a carpenter to build, hiring waiters or assistants to help you or hiring someone to advertise it for you. These are very much RP-focused areas and almost all of them require two people to be there for the bonuses to activate.
A moderator can add you as a partner to a workplace. A partner has the ability to hire and fire employees. Unlike a safehouse, you can promote multiple employees to be partners and help you manage your workplace.
Yes but you'll just be splitting your work points between them.
We noticed a lot of players setting up businesses and wanted to support them. The items rewarded help people running these places do their RP, for instance by giving bar workers beer cans and rum bottles to serve to their patrons. It also rewards people for visiting those locations with buffs to remove unhappiness, stress or boredom, depending on the type of workplace.
They also give us a fair way to slowly trickle out loot items after the server start, and a system we can build on further in future to support thriving player towns and the factions that run them.
We've added special items called "Anti Theft Strips" that prevent the item from being removed from the workplace, they can be applied and removed by employees of any workplace. They can be crafted with 1 ripped sheet and 1 scrap metal.
We've also added one way locks, these locks allow for anyone to put items into a container but only the key holder to remove them their recipe is: 1 Padlock, 1 small metal sheet, 1 blowtorch, and metal working 2.
